2011 PORSCHE CAYMAN R
Cayman R is essentially a fixed-roof version of the undisputed king of the Fun Porsche, Boxster Spyder. Situated amidships is the same 3.4-liter boxer six-cylinder found in droptop, putting an additional 10 horsepower over the standard Cayman S. The 330 hp peak comes at 7400 rpm - 200 rpm higher than that of younger siblings - but the torque remains unchanged at 273 pound-feet (access has a relatively high 4750 rpm). The extra grunt thanks to a new head tube, tuned ECU, custom exhaust, it immediately becomes a quick button mounted on the dashboard. But history Cayman S is not about power. This is fine, discussion and - more important - weight loss. Porsche engineers have managed to strip some 121 pounds of R, exchanging aluminum door units (33 pounds), the facilitation of wheels (11 pounds) and assembly of comfort and support brilliantly all day with buckets Carbon fiber to claims (26 pounds), and they nixing sat-nav/stereo and air conditioning (extra 33 pounds). However, these last two options are available without charge, and unless you follow these things every weekend, just check the boxes and thank us later. Porsche says another 15 pounds was removed by stripping soundproofing materials and some other non-essential, such as door handles that have been exchanged with the tissue pulls stupid. If this is the boffins extreme measure was used to reduce weight, so why have they left illuminated vanity mirrors? We asked. They laughed.
